Ananda Hatcheries
Giant freshwater prawn (Scampi) hatchery set up in 1993, the hatchery was the first of its kind in India to start commercial production of 40 million seed in Bhimavaram, W.G. Dist, Andhra Pradesh. By virtue of the experience, this professionally managed unit has set up a 100 million seed capacity hatchery to produce Black Tiger Prawn seed (P. monodon) in Kakinanda in 1994. It also runs 40 million seed capacity hatchery named Bengal Scampi Tech in Digha, West Bengal.This Hatchery has received "Pioneer Award" from Kerala Agricultural University.
Ananda hatchery is approved by CAA (Costal Aquaculture Authority, Govt. of India) to import SPF brood stock from Hawaii USA & Thailand for producing the best quality seedlings/Post Larvae(PL). Today the Hatchery targeted to produce 500 million Post Larvae (PL). The Red Tilapia & Pangasius Hatchery located at Bhimavaram has a capacity to produce 100 million fish frys.
